Applications to the Wine Communicators of Australia’s (WCA) Young Guns and Gurus program close this Friday (Sept 4).

This marks the third year the mentoring program has run, pairing six up-and-coming wine communicators with respected wine industry leaders in arenas of journalism, public relations, and sales and marketing.

The program aims to encourage personal and professional development in tomorrow’s wine industry leaders through the transfer of knowledge from one generation of leaders to the next.

Each Young Gun is matched to the most appropriate Guru in their field, with each pair spending up to two hours per month discussing industry issues and career development opportunities.

At the conclusion of the program, the Young Guns share their experiences with other WCA members through a written report and presentation.

The Guru’s for this year are:

Public relations
Lesley Ann Grimoldby, director of Intercontact Public Relations
Angie Bradbury, managing director of DIG Marketing Group

Sales and marketing
Ralph Dunning, marketing manager of Yalumba
Phil Sexton, proprietor of Innocent Bystander Wines

Journalism
Judy Sarris, editor of Gourmet Traveller WINE magazine
Peter Bourne, wine consultant, judge, retail expert and journalist

Interested Young Guns should visit the WCA website for more information.
