Adelaide Hills winery Shaw + Smith has appointed Dan Coward, formerly of Fine Wine Partners and Bibendum, in the newly created role of trade sales manager – Australia.
Coward will support Shaw + Smith global sales and marketing manager David LeMire MW, working closely with the winery's Australian distributors, red + white to give extra presence in the Australian market for both the Shaw + Smith and Tolpuddle Vineyard wines from Tasmania.
Coward has extensive wine knowledge and experience working in fine wine distribution with Bibendum in the UK and Fine Wine Partners in Australia, as well as having a Graduate Diploma in Wine Business from the University of Adelaide.
Shaw + Smith co-founder Michael Hill Smith MW said: "In 2013 Adam Wadewitz joined the winemaking team alongside Martin Shaw. We know we have backed another winner in Dan and he will be a terrific asset for us around the country."
Meanwhile, Shaw + Smith has released the 2013 M3 Chardonnay, from Wadewitz's first vintage at the winery.
Co-founder Martin Shaw said the 2013 vintage required significant crop thinning to achieve balance and flavour concentration.
"Good natural acidity is a defining element of this vintage and provides the framework for elegance and ability to age," he said.
