As a retailer it can be difficult to understand and explain the different regions and communicate this to customers who, particularly in the pandemic-era, want to be certain about every purchasing decision they make.
Barton & Guestier has teamed up with some of the best sommeliers in the world to bring its customers a unique detailed review of its entire Appellation d’Origine Protégée wine portfolio. “Words of Sommeliers” saw B&G assemble 31 internationally renown sommeliers to provide a personal review and description of each of the wines making it the first time in history B&G has assembled a project of this scale.
Each of the 32 wines reviewed were given a full two page spread for customers to engage with, including the history of the reviewing sommelier, quotes about the wine, photos, important information, flavour profiles and what it may be perfectly paired with. Making the book the one-stop-shop for everything a retailer may want to know when helping customers make the most informed decision possible.
Among the top sommeliers assembled are three of the best sommeliers of the world and five master sommeliers, with the majority having already participated at the International Sommelier Association – Best sommelier of the World competition. The sommeliers are representing as many as 29 nationalities from Sweden, USA, Australia, Canada, India, Brazil and many more.
Philippe Marion, B&G Deputy General Manager explained: “This is another testimony of B&G’s close relationship with the trade. For a very long time now, we have nurtured a very close relationship with the international sommelier community and we are extremely grateful for their support. With this project, we also wanted to take the opportunity to thank them by shining the spotlight on that community, being a key actor of our industry”.
