The Australian distribution of Bittermens bitters will move from Vanguard Luxury Brands to SouthTrade International, effective immediately.
The switch comes as a result of the bitters brand’s ownership changing to Sazerac, the owner of SouthTrade International.
Bittermens’ origins date back only ten short years; in San Francisco in 2007, Avery and Janet Glasser used high proof spirit and a variety of herbs, peels and spices to create an extract of a traditional Mexican cooking sauce.
This extract became the prototype recipe for the Xocolatl Mole Bitters, and since then the Bittermens range has expanded significantly and moved operations twice: first to Brooklyn and later New Orleans, which is now their permanent base.
“Bittermens has always been at the forefront of the cocktail world,” said James France, Vanguard’s owner and founder. “Avery and Janet’s passion in catering without compromise to the world’s best bartenders shows through in their exceptional and creative products.
“We are proud to have introduced Bittermens to Australia and happy to see this brand move onto a professional company such as SouthTrade. We wish the very best to all involved.”
SouthTrade International Managing Director Ray Noble added: “We are excited about taking on the distribution of Bittermens in Australia. Vanguard has done an excellent job of building the portfolio over the years and we are looking forward to continuing this great work.”
The Sazerac Company is one of America’s oldest family owned, privately held distillers with operations in Louisiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Maine, New Hampshire, Maryland, California, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Australia and Canada. Sazerac’s flagship brands include Buffalo Trace and Southern Comfort.
