The world’s first sparkling vodka has debuted at the Las Vegas Nightclub and Bar Show.
Vodka O2 created a buzz at the Las Vegas show — the largest show of its kind in the world — with speculation the new product could foster a new category for the liquor industry.
Vodka O2 is a British premium grade 80 proof vodka distilled and filtered three times in 100 year-old copper pot stills. The product was created by International English Distillers following a two-year development phase the company said circumvented the convoluted patent of an unidentified vodka product.
“O2 Sparkling Vodka brings magic and a new taste sensation and excitement to cocktails by reinventing the vodka experience,” inventor Philip Maitland told South Mississippi’s Sun Herald newspaper.
Vodka O2 is currently available in the US states of Florida, New York and New Jersey, and at a number of on- and off-premise locations throughout Iceland and the UK.
Vodka O2 has not signed a distribution deal in Australia.
