A landmark deal between Foxtel and MatchPint will help kickstart the road to recovery for on-premise venues across the nation.
The deal will see publicans and their customers joined together under one common interest, to watch some of the world’s best live sport on the big screen.
MatchPint is a free website and app that makes watching sport with friends quicker, easier to organise and more entertaining.
The online tool lists venues showing specific fixtures in nearby locations narrowed down by GPS and shares with fans the closest of those that are broadcasting sporting fixtures. All major sporting codes and channels will be represented, including Main Event, Fox Sports, Fox Cricket, Fox League, Fox Footy, ESPN, beIN SPORTS.
For venues, the easy-to-use tool is a way to encourage fans in the door and communicate promotions and deals, which will no doubt be a welcome initiative for both publicans and consumers after a challenging year due to COVID-19 pub and club lockdowns and closures.
For more than 4000 venue customers, the tool will boost their ability to market sport in their venue by publishing fixtures online with just a few clicks. They can create customised posters and schedules and access analytics such as the most searched sporting fixtures.
Each venue profile contains clear photos and key details such as how many screens they have, what is on their menu, what the atmosphere is like, if they have a beer garden and what drinks offers are available. Functionality is easy to use, mobile-responsive on phone and website.
Foxtel National Manager – Licensed Venues, Greg Bohlsen said: “Nothing is more Australian than a beer at the pub with mates while watching live sport, which is why Foxtel is delighted to be working with MatchPint and our venue partners to bring fans closer to the game… and the beer tap.”
Key sporting events such as the much-anticipated NRL Telstra Premiership and Toyota AFL Premiership Season will be just some of the major sporting moments to be shared on MatchPint.
The MatchPint app allows customers to select a fixture they want to watch and where the closest venues showing it are located.
Head of MatchPint Australia Jonathan Richards added: “Getting more sports fans into pubs, more often is what we are all about and when you think of sport in a venue you think of Foxtel. We can’t wait to work with Foxtel’s customers across Australia to help connect them with fans looking for venues and help them market their week of sport in minutes.”
MatchPint will officially launch to fans in the coming months and is available for Foxtel venue customers now.
