There are many great things about Australia’s liquor and hospitality industry, embracing charitable causes is one and working together to make a difference is another.

Pubs, bars, restaurants and retailers all have a focus on making sure they give back to the community; it’s an attitude found in this industry the world over and Australia is definitely one country where it is hugely prevalent.

Negroni Week started in 2013 when around 100 venues took part, and since then it has grown and grown, with over $1.5m so far raised for charitable causes all over the world.

This year’s Negroni Week takes place from June 4 to 10, and over 7700 venues from around the world will be taking part and now is the time for you to register, for you to take part and to raise money by making classic Negronis. The Negroni is made with three simple ingredients, Campari, gin and sweet red vermouth – 30mls of each, stirred, never shaken, and garnished with a slice of orange.

Registrations are open until 1st June and the first 150 Australian venues that register will be sent a special Negroni Week pack, which will help you and your venue to make the most of this incredible week and raise lots of money for charity.

And there is an added incentive to registering for Negroni Week in 2018. This year Campari has pledged to match the donation of Australia’s highest donating venue, up to a maximum of $5000, so there is potentially double the reasons to get involved with this year’s Negroni Week. The matching amount will be paid to the same charity that the winning venue has selected and highlights Campari’s commitment to making Negroni Week about supporting charities and giving back to the community.

This is a great initiative and one that all outlets are being encouraged to get involved with. The Negroni remains one of the most talked about cocktails in the world, not just as a result of the popularity of classic cocktails, but through new and creative twists on the much-loved staples using modern and innovative methods.

As a result, the success of Negroni Week continues to grow year on year, with the cocktail now recognised as the second best-selling cocktail in the world.
