Pepperjack is gearing up to launch its annual ‘Battle of the Steaks’ on-premise promotion, which will see the wine brand searching Australia’s pubs, clubs and restaurants for the best steak.
During August and September, patrons dining in a participating venue are encouraged to enjoy a glass of Pepperjack red wine with a steak and then vote online or via SMS for their favourite venue across the three pub, club and restaurant categories.
Participating venues will be kitted out with a Pepperjack promotional kit, including aprons, posters, tent cards and steak knives, to help drive patron interest and votes.
The top venue in each category at the conclusion of the competition will receive a $20,000 prize and go head-to-head in a final national cook-off for the prestigious title of Pepperjack’s National Steak Champion.
Last year’s Pepperjack Battle of the Steaks champion Belmondo Ristorante, a small Italian restaurant located in the Adelaide suburb of Holden Hill, beat more than 300 venues across Australia to take out the major prize.
Belmondo former owner, John Spagnoletti, said that as a suburban restaurant in the outskirts of Adelaide they initially thought they had little chance competing against some of Australia’s finest restaurants.
"But I always believed we delivered quality, and knew once we got into the state finals we had it in the bag,” Spagnoletti said.
"The recognition of having Australia's best steak from the Pepperjack Battle of the Steaks, meant a lot and we have had a year of customers visiting us just for the steaks and congratulating us on the win – and sales of our steaks have increased 10 fold!”.
The Pepperjack Battle of the Steaks website www.battleofthesteaks.com.au will be live from August 1 for consumers to vote.
Venues can register their interest in competing in Pepperjack Battle of the Steaks now by contacting their local Foster's representative on 132 337.
