Six bottles of Glenfarclas 60 Year Old valued at $24,500 RRP each are due to arrive in Australia in coming weeks.

Distributed in Australia by Angove Family Winemakers, only 360 bottles of the super-premium single malt have been produced and can only be ordered into the country by special request due to the strictly limited nature of the whisky.

Angove’s marketing manager, Matt Redin, said that interest and growth of the super-premium Scotch category has been outstanding globally.

“We first witnessed this with the continued and steady uptake of the older expressions from Glenfarclas, their standard 30 and 40 Year Old Single Malts, but have seen solid sales for their limited release single cask Family Cask range as well which range in vintage from 1955 to 1999,” Redin told TheShout.

“With the launch of the Glenfarclas Limited Release 60 YO we were a little sceptical due to the high price – but looking around the market at similar offerings it is indeed very reasonable (at RRP $24,500) and as a result we have already sold six units with another six on hold for us over in Scotland that we will have sent over when we get the orders. It really is a priceless dram and the market here appreciates the uniqueness and scarcity of it.”
