The Sydney Rum Club will soon hold its first ever rum showcase, Sugarcane Sunday, which will give both the trade and consumers the chance to sample an array of rums and engage directly with brand representatives.
Sugarcane Sunday will be on March 24 at The Standard from 1pm to 6pm and will feature a rum market boasting "the largest selection of rums in Australia to taste, enjoy and learn about", according to Sydney Rum Club organiser, Tom Bulmer.
"Sugarcane Sunday is our club's chance to open its doors to anyone who loves rum, and especially those who have still yet to learn rum's history, culture and taste.
"This afternoon is designed to not only taste various rums, but give guests a feeling for the islands, countries and continents that produce rum," said Bulmer.
Consumers will have to purchase a ticket for $25 to attend, which will entitle them to a choice of ten rums on the day.
All the rums on display will also be available at the bar, which will be serving them up in a range of cocktails.
Members of the hospitality industry will be able to attend for free by sending an RSVP tom@sydneyrumclub.com.au, however they are invited to make a donation to charity on the day in lieu of an entry free.
