Suntory Australia has announced that it will take over the distribution of Tia Maria from Pernod Ricard Australia, commencing in June.
The brand’s European owner, Illva Saronno S.p.A, made the decision to transfer the distribution rights to Suntory Australia following its appointment of Suntory as the official Australian distributor of Disaronno in February.
Illva acquired the Tia Maria brand in 2009 and has recently committed to heavy promotion of the liqueur, including a new TVC airing in the UK, Argentina, Canada, the Netherlands, Ireland and Australia, along with digital and POS executions.
Suntory’s appointment as the distributor of Tia Maria follows news of its appointment as the distributor of several other brands in 2011, including the Cooley Distillery range of whiskies, Cana Rio Cachaca, Disaronno, and the extention of its distribution agreement with Stolichnaya vodka.
I have a 25yr old bottle of Tia Maria unopened. Would it be safe to drink still?
