This week (Feb 8 – 12) is all about Mount Gay Rum, as international brand ambassador Chesterfield Brown visits Sydney to talk about the premium Barbadian rum.
In Sydney until Friday, he has so far hosted several exclusive bartender tastings and was a special guest host at last night’s monthly Rum Club at Eden Bar & Restaurant.
His friendly and welcoming nature was well-received by the group, who learnt about the history of Mount Gay rum, before tasting three rums from the range – Eclipse, XO and the premium soon-to-be-released 1703 Old Cask Selection.
Blended entirely from Mount Gay’s prized reserves, of which each rum is aged for 10-30 years, it has a bouquet of oak, caramel and leather, with mellow notes of ripe banana, stewed fruit and spices.
Brown will tonight host an exclusive four-course dinner accompanied by matching Mount Gay cocktails, before heading to Melbourne and Brisbane for more trade tasting sessions later this week.
