Champagne Taittinger has become FIFA's Official Champagne in an agreement that will run up until December 2015, covering both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013.
Taittinger's Australian distribution partner, McWilliam's Wines, announced the new partnership to consumers and trade at an event held at the Pullman Quay Grand in Sydney last week, attended by fourth generation family member Clovis Taittinger.
The event occasioned the Australian launch of Taittinger Nocturne (pictured), a "Sec" champagne composed of Chardonnay (40%) and Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (60%).
Blended from around thirty different vineyards from various vintages, the wine is laid down for four years to age before being disgorged.
"A 17.5g/l dosage of sugar cane combined with the slow cellar-ageing create a round and smooth champagne that is perfect to enjoy late in the evening," Taittinger says.
