Treasury Wine Estates has teamed up with Warner Bros. to produce a limited edition Wolf Blass blend ahead of the release of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel.
Coinciding with the ‘Day of the Dragon’, the first day that House of the Dragon products and merchandise are released, Treasury Wine Estates has announced a ‘House of the Dragon’ Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz blend.
Three limited-edition labels will be produced, each depicting a dragon in flight, in gold accents. The wine is made with grapes from the 2021 vintage.
Chris Hatcher, Wolf Blass Chief Winemaker, believes the partnership is in keeping with Wolf Blass’s brand history.
“This exciting partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products is the next chapter in the Wolf Blass story, defining the brand’s philosophy now and into the future,” Hatcher said.
“It follows Wolfgang Blass’ attitude to life and wine, challenging the status quo and encouraging fans and wine drinkers from around the world to not to settle for anything less than great.”
The Vice President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products ANZ, Andrew Bromell, stated that the two companies’ shared aspirations made them natural partners.
“With such immense anticipation and momentum building ahead of the launch, we knew we needed to partner with a globally recognised brand of quality that shared the same vision and ambition – which was tapping into the zeitgeist and identifying an appetite for a wine that was aligned with the world of Westeros.
“We have no doubt Wolf Blass’ House of the Dragon Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz will be a blockbuster with consumers, regardless of whether they are returning Game of Thrones fans or tuning in to the franchise for the first time this August,” Bromell concluded.
As for the wine itself, Hatcher describes it as a classic Australian blend, which reflects Wolf Blass’s determination to “passionately strive for the best through premium, quality, affordable wine.”
Wolf Blass’ House of the Dragon Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2021 is available at Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores nationally from today, June 22.
