Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has announced the appointment of Mark Weldon as an independent Non-Executive Director and member of its Wine Operations and Sustainability Committee, effective 1 October 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.

Based in New Zealand, Weldon is the Owner and Founder of Bannockburn winery Terra Sancta, recognised among the country’s top 20 wineries for its Rosé and Pinot Noir. He has previously chaired the Central Otago Winegrowers Association and served as a director of Hawke’s Bay producer Sileni Estates.

TWE said Weldon brings extensive leadership experience from across the wine, agriculture, capital markets, biotech and media sectors.

TWE Chairman John Mullen said: “Mark will bring to our Board deep experience in wine, leadership in sustainability and climate advocacy, and an extensive understanding of capital markets. Mark’s perspective and insight will be invaluable to our Board and I am delighted he will be joining us.”

Wheldon was CEO of NZX Limited from 2002 to 2012, where he led the transformation of the exchange from a mutual to a listed entity and delivered strong returns. He also served as CEO of Mediaworks between 2014 and 2016, and is currently a director of Canterbury Grasslands, a large-scale agricultural business operating in New Zealand and the US.

In addition, Weldon has held roles in climate advocacy and biotech, including co-chairing New Zealand’s Climate Change Leadership Forum in 2007 and leading Ruminant Biotech through its early growth and capital raises. His early career included roles with McKinsey & Company and as an M&A attorney with Skadden Arps in New York.
