Two Birds Brewing has become the latest brewer to move into the world of cans, with the launch of its popular Taco beer in 375ml tins.
Two Birds founders, Danielle Allen and Jayne Lewis originally brewed Taco as a one-off beer for a festival in 2013, but it became so popular that the pair added it to its core range.
The idea for Taco was hatched in 2013, when Allen and Lewis travelled to Southern California in search of inspiration to build their dream brewery, The Nest. During a flight from San Diego to Portland the pair decided to brew a beer using the fresh flavours from their favourite food on the trip – Mexican Tacos.
Two Birds Taco is brewed using ale and wheat malts, with an addition of flaked corn. Citra and Amarillo hops contribute citrus and fruity characters, which complement the additions of coriander leaf and fresh lime peel. The beer pours a hazy shade of pale and is fermented with a clean ale yeast to allow the fresh flavours to shine.
Taco Tins (RRP: $20 for 4-pack) will be available from Friday, 2 December throughout stores nationally. Allen and Lewis are also hosting simultaneous events in Sydney and Melbourne on Thursday night to celebrate the launch.
