Kinsela’s iconic Level Three has recently been revamped into a multi-purpose performance space that is set to become a hub for live music, events, visual art, theatre, comedy and more.

Under the guiding hand of Dan Woolley, Riversdale’s group beverage manager, the large room, named The Standard, has been transformed into an uncluttered warehouse style function space that is flexible enough to cater to the specific needs of each event.

Compartmental staging and seating can be set-up according to performance requirements, with the venues black walls becoming a blank canvas that any artwork or branding can be painted on.

New lighting equipment and a solid sound system, along with ample air conditioning, have also been added, ensuring quality visual and audio as well as the crowd's comfort.

A new bar has been constructed to one side and, like the surrounding space, it can be stocked and staffed to serve everything from RTDs to more complex cocktails depending on the event that is being catered for.

An additional smaller cocktail bar will soon be added to service people in an elevated section that will operate as a VIP seated area during some performances.

The Standard aims to provide musicians, promoters and punters with a great location for live music in the heart of the city, and to facilitate this, the Riversdale Group has engaged Peer Group Media to provide the creative direction and programming.

“Sydney is one of the world’s greatest cities, yet the recent closure of performance spaces across the city has meant less choice for the community and less support for our artists,” said Riversdale Group CEO, Paddy Coughlan.

“The Standard is set to change that with a medium sized, all purpose performance space which will set the new creative agenda for Sydney’s live performance scene.”

Apart from hosting a plethora of live performances, The Standard will also be hosting a Rematch Beeyatch challenge on November 13, which will double up as the official launch of a weekly Hospitality night that will be running on Sundays.

Tonight sees The Standard host the Time Out Bar Awards.
