An exciting role exists with William Grant & Sons to further drive our business to new heights, in the capacity of a Whisky Specialist. This is a 12mth contract with a view to be extended.

Established in 1887, family-owned William Grant & Sons (WGSA) is a global premium spirits company with a portfolio of award winning products, including Grant’s Scotch Whisky, Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Monkey Shoulder Triple Malt Scotch Whisky and Hendricks Gin to name just a few. WGSA was set up as a standalone business operation in Australia in 2011 servicing the needs of on and off premise operators nationally.
An opportunity has arisen to employ a Whisky Specialist in Melbourne.
The Job
- The primary focus of this role will be the activation (develop, manage, coordinate, and implement) of brand strategy for our premium whisky range.
- The role is based in Melbourne however encompasses the geographic areas of VIC/Tas, SA, WA and will therefore involve some regional and interstate travel.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- To educate, inspire and guide influencers within the on premise (primary) and off premise (secondary) in order to drive distribution, visibility, trial and subsequent recommendation to consumers of our whiskies.
- The Whisky Specialist will foster strong relationships with trade audiences by leveraging an engaging personality, excellent communication skills, and an evident authority of the brands and the broader whisky category.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Sales team to engage, support and achieve common objectives.
- Timely administration.
The Candidate
- A strong spirits background and proven track record achieved through professional experience (e.g. bartending, bar/retail management, sales representative, marketing).
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
- Passion, in-depth knowledge and curiosity about the whisky category and industry.
- Mixology experience.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- Natural leadership and motivational skills to achieve individual, team and project results.
- Dynamic presentation skills (written and verbal).
- Demonstrates good administration practices.
