Following the appointment of five new directors to the Wine Australia Board, Australian Grape & Wine CEO Lee McLean has welcomed their expertise in a crucial time for Australia’s wine industry.
The appointments were announced on Saturday by Hon Julie Collins MP, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, with each of the newly appointed directors set to begin a three-year term tomorrow.
Joining the Wine Australia Board Chair Dr Michele Allan AO are Dr Angeline Achariya in Victoria, Roslyn Baker in Queensland, Andrew Kay in South Australia, Elizabeth Riley in New South Wales and Peta Slack-Smith in Victoria.
The five new directors have been appointed to replace departing board members Catherine Oates, Catherine Cooper, Frances-Anne Keeler, Mitchell Taylor, Justin Brown and John Lloyd.
Commenting on the announcement, McLean said: “I thank the outgoing directors for their efforts during a period of significant transformation.
“It is essential that the new Board works closely with Australian Grape & Wine to strengthen and encourage profitable, resilient, and sustainable winegrape and wine businesses, ensuring that Australian wine is well placed to overcome the current challenges and thrive on both the domestic and international stage.”
