The volume of Australian wine exported in the past 12 months declined 13 per cent to 703 million litres while value fell 12 per cent to $2.6 billion, according to the Australian Wine and Brandy Association (AWBC).

Bulk and bottled wine shipments both declined in the past year. Bulk wine was the main contributor to the overall volume decline but the decline in bulk shipments is stabilising on a month-by-month basis. The decline in bottled wine shipments continued.

Strong growth in value was recorded in shipments to Denmark, China, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Singapore, partially offsetting the declines in value shipped to the US and UK.

Denmark was the number one contributor to value growth (up $14 million) followed by China (up $10 million), the Netherlands (up $7 million), Hong Kong (up $6 million) and Singapore (up $4 million).
