Nova’s Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold have teamed up with the brewing team at 4 Pines Brewing Company to create Kate, Tim & Marty’s InCider.

Adam Mitchell of 4 Pines told TheShout the collaboration process is now three years in the making.

“We first teamed up with Tim a few years back to brew Tim’s Cherry Pie,” he said.

“This was a light-bodied lager with a natural cherry infusion, both before and after fermentation. It was spiced with vanilla, cocoa and cinnamon to create a fun and easy-drinking mock-up of the dessert.”

Following that, Kate and Marty were involved with the second instalment – Tim’s Summer Pie, and have teamed up again to create Kate, Tim & Marty’s InCider.

“We started the conversation around September last year,” Mitchell said.

“Tim actually got very emotional throughout the process and shed a few tears when reflecting on the original 4 Pines cider. I remember him walking over to a keg, sitting down and saying: ‘this is it, it has to be a cider’, while he stared at an apple in his hand.”

“It was powerful stuff.”

The team poured through recipes and styles and decided they would brew something which really enhanced the fresh flavours and aromas.

“It’s an all-purpose cider for every drinking occasion,” Mitchell added.

“The collaboration relationship has been excellent and something I know everyone really gets a kick out of. We might be slightly biased but word is anyone from first-timers to sommeliers have been drinking the cider and the reception has been very positive.”

Kate, Tim & Marty’s InCider is available on tap at Sydney’s Strawberry Hills Hotel, Melbourne’s European Bier Café, Brisbane’s Brunswick Hotel, Adelaide’s Lion Hotel and Perth’s Breakwater.
