Experience the best of Vinexpo Academy

Across the three days, visitors will be able to experience a packed program of more than 30 educational sessions in a variety of formats – from wine and spirits masterclasses and conferences to world class tastings.

Standout sessions include tastings with the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGCB) and Gambero Rosso; a spotlight on exceptional underestimated French terroirs with Maison Wessman; plus, a conference led by IWSR on unlocking growth amid shifting dynamics in global beverage alcohol.

In terms of hospitality, author of ‘Wine & The Food of Asia’ Richard Hemming will present on “Reinventing Pairings: Wine & Asian Gastronomy”; while a conference presented by Caroline Meesemaecker, CEO of Wine Services will explore the wine selections of Michelin-starred restaurants through an analysis of 1,539 wine lists.

Of particular interest to Australian visitors could be the panel discussion entitled “China’s Wine Market in Transition: What You Need to Know” – as Australia’s wine exports to China in the 12 months to March 2025 were valued at $1.03bn. Additionally a panel discussion on southeast Asia wine trends vs global wine trends would also be useful.

There will also be a sommelier battle between Tram Tran from Chapter Dining, Hanoi and Mason Ng the current wine director of Park90, Malaysia; along with the ultimate blind tasting challenge, presented by the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI) and Vinexposium hosted by Reeze Choi – founder of sommelier service and wine consultancy company, Somm’s Philosophy.

Industry trends to be explored

Several industry trends that will be explored across the three days at Vinexpo Asia 2025. Here’s what’s expected to dominate:

  • Integration into culinary experiences – For Asian cuisine, wine pairing is still a new and relatively unexplored topic and with social experiences and celebrations playing an increasingly important role in alcohol consumption across APAC, the sessions outlined above respond to this trend.
  • Health and wellbeing – Across APAC an increased consumer interest in organic and lower-alcohol products continues has followed a decline in overall alcohol consumption. This is reflected with a number of exhibitors offering no or low options as well as the inclusion of the WOW! section of the expo.
  • Changing luxury and premiumization markets – The rising cost of living and discretionary consumer spending has been impacting the consumption of ultra-premium products in favour of more rational purchases and controlled approach to upmarket spending. This is reflected in the inclusion of a panel discussion with Richard Hemming MW and other experts on the good, the bad and the ugly of luxury and premiumization in the drinks sector across Southeast Asia.
