Western Australian microbrewer OZ Brewing has appointed an external administrator and is likely to face liquidation.
The company posted an announcement on the Australian Stock Exchange saying it had appointed Judge Constable Chartered Accountants as administrators and lodged a 505 form with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
The announcement followed an application by a shareholder earlier this month to appoint a provisional liquidator under the Corporations Act on the grounds of insolvency. The application is due to be heard in Federal Court on October 14, Business Spectator reported.
OZ Brewing attempted to create a new hospitality platform that combined an informal dining environment, and on-site craft bakery and an artisan small batch brewery at Mad Monk, a Fremantle premise.
OZ Brewing executive chairman Trevor Pugh could not be reached for comment.
A staff member at Mad Monk said the venue was still trading but OZ Brewing and Pugh were no longer involved.
OZ Brewing shares are locked in a trading halt. They last traded on September 8 for 3.3 cents.
