Vanguard's key demographic is the 'Modern Age Drinker', who drinks less, but is prepared to pay a premium for better quality drinks.  Vanguard is quickly growing as people around Australia connect with the growing trend towards premiumisation. We seek a new Vanguardian to head up the QLD region.

 

The Role – Sales Person / Spirits and Cocktail Ambassador / All-Round Good Human

  • Build strong relationships with and call on premium bars, quality bottle shops, restaurants, five star hotels and anyone that loves great spirits
  • Design trade promotions that are fun, engaging and original
  • Conduct spirits trainings and tastings with staff and consumers
  • Work closely with and supporting our wholesale partners
  • Stay in touch with and report back on current trends and needs of the trade

 

About you – Entrepreneurial Spirits Lover

  • A genuine interest in spirits – you don’t need to be a super nerd about it but you will definitely need passion (but spirits nerds also welcome)
  • Appreciation of the liquor industry – you drink in good bars and your partner hates going to the bottle shop with you because it takes an hour to leave
  • People person – you find people genuinely interesting, like to hear/tell stories and can handle the occasional difficult customer

 

Key Requirements

  • A genuine interest in spirits – we keep saying it but it’s really important
  • Minimum 3 years’ liquor industry experience and solid industry contacts
  • A good listener with fantastic people skills
  • Honesty, reliability and accountability
  • Self-motivated – you will have complete responsibility over your territory and lots of autonomy in your role.  You will work from home and need to plan your own call cycles and market plans
  • A commercial approach to business.  By this we mean you need to be able to structure pricing arrangements with selected accounts in conjunction with loading discounts into the wholesalers
     
  • RSA
  • A full driver’s licence and a car (we provide a monthly car allowance)
  • Qualifications in marketing, business, WSET or other relevant industry courses are highly valued

A few details 

  • Based in Brisbane but with frequent travel to the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Byron Bay.  Also sales trips to cover the Far North Qld markets. Frequency to be finalised but ideally a minimum of 2 trips per annum.
     
  • Full time role with very occasional night time and weekend work.  Time off in lieu  is offered for weekend work
  • Occasional interstate travel
