The rebranding of UK’s Virgin Radio to Absoute Radio, has led iconic vodka brand Absolut to launch legal proceedings for infringement of its trademark.

Absolut parent company Vin&Sprit, which was acquired by Pernod Ricard in July, and Absolut Tracks music project have filed the complaint because of potential confusion between the names.

Absolute Radio has said that it will fight the legal proceedings.

Virgin Radio was bought by the Times of India group for $138 million in June leading to the rebranding of the UK radio station to Absolute Radio.
