The AHA WA's Best Steak Sandwich competition is an annual favourite and this year's country and Perth winners have already enjoyed their prize.

Michael Hill from Tall Timbers of Manjimup won the Best Country WA Steak Sandwich, while Andrew Amis of the Harbour Master (Esplanade Hotel Fremantle By Rydges) took out the Best Perth Steak Sandwich award.

The pair jetted off to Sydney to enjoy two nights’ accommodation to attend a Trade Night at the Malt Shovel Brewery in Camperdown, Sydney, courtesy of James Squire and Lion Pty Ltd. The evening included a meeting with Malt Shovel Brewmaster Chuck Hahn, a tour of the brewery and dinner.

AHA(WA) CEO Bradley Woods congratulated  both winners and praised the competition for another year, saying “the public response to the competition has again been overwhelming; Western Australians are certainly passionate about their steak sandwiches and enjoy being involved in a democratic voting process.

“The steak sandwich brings together everything that is great about WA venues and pubs, from the home-style cooking to the locally-grown produce.”

WA’s Best Steak Sandwich Country WA and Perth competitions are sponsored by Tourism Western Australia, HiscoNFE and by Lion through the James Squire brand.
