Aldi Australia has set an August 1 launch date for its new Aldi Liquor online offering, which will provide customers on the eastern seaboard the opportunity to access the retailer's exclusive liquor range via the web.

Since 2003, Aldi has slowly rolled out its liquor offering to stores in Victoria, NSW and ACT. It will soon expand its reach online with the launch of www.aldiliquor.com.au.

"Considering not all Aldi stores in NSW, ACT and Victoria are able to stock liquor and liquor licensing laws in Queensland do not currently allow sale at all, we wanted to extend this offering to all customers over 18 years of age to enjoy," group managing director Tom Daunt said in a statement.

Aldi Liquor will carry over 200 products that will fall into two categories – Aldi's everyday range of local and international beer, wine and spirits, or online only "special buys" available while stocks last.

Customers must be aged 18 years or over to purchase from the website and will be required to provide evidence on delivery to verify their personal information.

"Aldi has tapped into its international network to launch Aldi Liquor online," Daunt said.

"Customers will find products not otherwise available in Australia – all at the click of a mouse. Backed by Aldi's 100 per cent satisfaction guarantee, customers will be assured of great quality unique products at exceptional value," he said.

The Aldi Liquor website www.aldiliquor.com.au will be live from August 1 and available as an app for both iPhone and Android at a later date.
