Wild Turkey has released the latest addition to its premium portfolio, Wild Turkey Forgiven, a blend of very rare, high-proof rye with aged bourbon.
Master distiller, Eddie Russell, said that Wild Turkey Forgiven earned its name after the distillers unwittingly blended the bourbon and the rye, resulting in a 91-proof, small batch whiskey.
“Much to the distillery team’s relief, Forgiven highlights the best of both worlds to create a one-of-a-kind taste that will appeal to both bourbon and rye aficionados,” Russell said.
According to Wild Turkey group marketing manager, Sally Bryne, the rye category is currently experiencing global growth.
“As both the bourbon and rye categories continue to witness broad expansion worldwide, Wild Turkey will maintain its commitment to creating high-quality products that have been the brand’s signature for more than 100 years, while exploring new and interesting whiskies that appeal to bartenders and consumers alike,” she said.
Wild Turkey Forgiven is made from 78 per cent six-year-old bourbon and 22 per cent four-year-old rye and naturally aged in American oak barrels.
It offers a bold opening, with tasting notes of creamy vanilla and oak, and a peppery, cinnamon finish.
It is currently available in limited quantities with an RRP of $89.99.
