The new online training program launched by the Australian Liquor Stores Association (ALSA) was nominated as a finalist at the recent 2014 Service Skills Australia Excellence Awards.

ALSA-Train and Austrain Academy were nominated for the Industry Collaboration/Partnership Award, which recognises businesses and registered training organisations that have excelled by forming innovative partnerships to develop programs and strategies that meet the needs of their sector.

ALSA-Train offers online training modules to liquor retailers and their employees, with the goal of developing career paths within the off-premise industry, resulting in the nationally recognised qualifications of Certificate IV in Retail Management, under the Australian Qualifications Framework national training system.

Additionally, ALSA has launched Retail Insights, which complements the ALSA-Train program with extensive resources and insights to assist liquor retailers to grow their business.

“This resource is another example of ALSA’s strategic positioning of professional career path development for a sustainable and diverse retail liquor sector,” said ALSA chief executive officer, Terry Mott.

“Importantly, it has been conceived and developed by liquor retailers for liquor retailers, and is presented in a way that is relevant to your business.

“ALSA and Austrain Academy are excited that Service Skills of Australia Excellence Awards have recognised our development of a world-class, innovative training program for the retail liquor sector.”

The ALSA-Train website is offering special introductory access rates for a limited time.
