ALSA’s International Study Tour program for 2017 has kicked off with delegates visiting the London market.

The purpose of ALSA’s Study Tour initiative is to expose retailers and their supplier colleagues to markets that operate differently to Australia.

“We have put together a very informative and busy schedule for the 5 days we are in London, however the success of the trip is down to the interaction of the group. We hold a Workshop Session at the end of each day, at which we challenge each other and ourselves to see what we can do differently in our own business environment” said ALSA President Giuseppe Minissale.

The ALSA Study Tour 2017 will visit a number of innovative retailers in London, including Conviviality Retail, Hedonism Wines and The Sampler, as well as being hosted by a range of supplier partners to gain a greater understanding of this important market.

This year’s Study Tour group of 14 is made up of a diverse range of retailers and suppliers from across the country, including last year’s Young Liquor Retailer of The Year Award winner, Rebecca Polley. “We have been fortunate to have the support of our retailer members and supplier partners in making the trip possible”, said Study Tour Facilitator, Mal Higgs.

Higgs added that it will be the group’s ultimate challenge to identify themes from what they hear and experience and to develop their thoughts and actions into a presentation to be made at this year’s ALSA Conference, now called the Australian Retail Drinks Conference, in Canberra this August.
