The Australian Liquor Stores Association (ALSA) study tour to Chicago and San Francisco wrapped up last week with the participants enthusiastic about the outcomes of the trip.

The group met with key retailers in both markets, including Michael Binstein from the Binnys Beverage Depots retail chain in Chicago and senior representatives from BevMo in California.

A key aspect of the trip was a series of workshop sessions, which helped the group to identify a number of themes that will be incorporated into the group’s presentation at this year’s ALSA conference in August.

“This year’s tour gave us the opportunity to talk to our fellow retailers, share ideas and listen to their experiences, which was invaluable for the group," said study tour facilitator, Mal Higgs.

"The supplier presentations we attended allowed us to gain an in depth view of the two markets and from there it was up to the group to drive the outcomes."
