Angostura's new amaro product, which took out the coveted category at the Spirited Awards in New Orleans, is heading to Australia.

The win underscored the success of the newest addition and saw the brand announce that the spirit is poised for global expansion, including into the Australia market later this year.

Amaro Di Angostura was selected from among the largest nomination pool in the award show’s history and made it through the rigorous judging process for which the awards are known.

The annual Spirited Awards are recognised among the highest honours in the alcohol and bar industry, and recognise the very best bars, bartenders and brand ambassadors from around the world.

Genevieve Jodhan, Executive Manager International Sales and Marketing, says that 2015 has been an “exceptional” year for Angostura as the brand continues to grow globally.

“The momentum around Amaro Di Angostura has been incredibly strong in the US and we’re looking forward to expanding distribution to Australia and Europe in the coming months,” she says. “It’s an honour to have been nominated in such good company with so many other brands joining us in working to elevate innovation and creativity in the spirits category. We’re incredibly proud to have been selected as the winner in such a competitive category.”

Amaro Di Angostura (35% ABV) is a deep amber colour, with aromas of cinnamon, dark chocolate and Angostura aromatic bitters, while the palate has cinnamon and liquorice notes.

No specific date has been given for the release of the product on the Australian market.
