Entries are currently being accepted for the 2011 Angostura Cocktail Challenge, with bartenders required to create two cocktails, one based on an Angostura rum a another one using either Angostura aromatic or orange bitters.

Successful bartenders will be invited to compete at this year’s Australian Final to be held at Melbourne’s Crown Casino later this year.

The winner of the national finals will then be sent to Trinidad to compete for the title of Angostura Global Cocktail Champion.

Two of the past three Global champions have emerged from Australia, including last year’s winner, Andy Griffiths, is now working closely with Angostura’s key markets as its Global Brand Ambassador for 2011 and will be a guest judge at both the Australia and at the Global Finals.

“We aim to produce yet another Australian Global champion at the finals in Trinidad,” said island2island CEO, Allan Shearer.

“Australia sets a very high standard with their bars and bartenders, and the Angostura Cocktail Challenge provides us with the platform to showcase this to the world.”

Entries must be submitted by August 8 through www.island2island.com.au with the first 50 valid entries also receiving an Angostura gift pack.
