The 2012 Time Out Shakedown battle is coming up, and Sydney and Melbourne bartenders are being invited to submit their entries for the chance to earn themselves bragging rights, a profile in Time Out and some mind-blowing prizes.

Time Out has once again teamed with South Trade International for the competition, and this year the event has been expanded to include Melbourne as well as Sydney.

To enter, bartenders need to submit an original cocktail recipe in any style, which must include as its base spirit either Patrón Silver, Agwa de Bolivia, Alizé Pomegranate, Green Fairy Absinth, Buffalo Trace, Pusser’s Rum, Hayman’s London Dry or Ultimat Vodka.

The Melbourne qualifier will be held at the Kodiak Club’s new tequila bar, Little Blood on May 28, and the Sydney qualifier will be held at Stitch Bar on June 3.

The top two bartenders from each city qualifier along with a wild card entry will be chosen to compete in the finals, which will be held at The Standard on June 18.

The finalists will have to make their drinks for service to 300 Time Out readers and VIPs, with each attendee invited to cast a vote on the night for their favourite drink. The bartender who receives the most votes on the night will be crowned the winner.

Entries close May 18. To enter or for more information email food@au.timeout.com or click here.
