The Australian Bartenders Guild (ABG) is now accepting entries for its Classic and Flair National Cocktail Championship, the winners of which will then represent the nation against the best bartenders in the world.

The competition is open to all bartenders residing in Australia. Details, entry rules and forms are available by emailing ABG president, Andrew Lee on andrew@harmonyis.com.au.

The winners will be given the honour of representing Australian at the International Bartenders Association 2012 World Cocktail Championship, which will take place at the IBA World Congress in Beijing, China on October 5-10.

In addition to competing for the title of World Cocktail Champion, classic and flair competitors will also receive return flights from Sydney to Beijing, as well as accommodation and an ABG prize package.

Entries close on June 22, and entrants must be available to travel from October 4-11. The local finals will be held at Sydney’s Shark Hotel Sydney on July 15. 30 bartenders will be chosen to compete in the classic category, and 15 to compete in the flair contests, with finalists to be announced on July 1.
