Last night (Nov 16) was a great evening for the Australian bartending community, with both Australian representatives making it through to the finals of the Belvedere Vodka Dream Job competition.

Held in London, Australian finalists Lee Potter Cavanagh (Victoria Room) and Petr Dvoracek (Lotus) both impressed the judges to make it through to the finals, to be held in New York on December 13-15.

The winner will receive a one-year, US$100,000 contract to work alongside existing brand ambassador Claire Smith.

The semi-finals consisted of three rounds, where contestants each had to make 10 pre-assigned drinks within five minutes; create a signature drink within three minutes and; give a five-minute presentation stating what they love or hate outside of the drinks industry.

“We’re extremely excited for two of Australia’s leading bartenders to be recognised at the Dream Job semi-finals,” said Belvedere Vodka marketing manager, Moet Hennessy Australia, Sarah Bentley.

“It really highlights the calibre of the bartending community in Australia, and Lee and Petr’s obvious admiration and commitment to Belvedere vodka.”

The competition was first launched globally in Sydney on September 16, and called for aspiring brand ambassadors to submit a short video clip, declaring why they should be the next Belvedere brand ambassador.

More than 140 entries from around the globe were received.
