NSW winery Nugan Estate has been awarded the Regional Trophy for the Best Australian Sweet Wine Over £10 for its 2006 Nugan Estate Riverina Botrytis Semillon at the 2008 Decanter World Wine Awards in London.

“This trophy is an amazing achievement,” said Nugan Estate chief winemaker, Daren Owers. “It’s an endorsement of what we believe at Nugan Estate — that the NSW Riverina truly deserves a position on the world stage as a premium producer of dessert wine. I am extremely proud of our whole team.”

The dessert wine now goes forward to compete against all other regional winners for the International Trophy, which will be announced at the Presentation Dinner on September 1 in London.

This is the second time Nugan Estate has been in the running for the Best International Dessert Wine in its price-point, having won the Trophy for the Best International Sweet Wine Under £10 for its 2005 Cookoothama Botrytis Semillo.

Nugan Estate wines are distributed directly by Nugan Estate in NSW, Deja Vu in VIC and QLD, Off the Vine in WA and SA and Oak Barrel in ACT.
