As we begin to shake off winter the prospect of heading to rooftop bars once again appeals and new research has unveiled the best 200 rooftop bars from around the world, with 21 Australian bars making the list.
In creating the list Mandoe Media went on an internet crawl, rather than a global bar crawl using metrics including customer experience, price and social media shares to reveal the best places to enjoy a drink with a view.
All the data was collected in June 2022 and individual ranking data for each rooftop bar was taken from the following sources:
Customer Experience – data was based on the percentage of reviews that rated the establishment as ‘excellent’ on the Tripadvisor platform.
Wine Prices – the lowest price for a standard-sized bottle of wine was obtained from the website and menu of each rooftop bar.
Instagram Shares – data was obtained by analysing the number of hashtags mentioning the rooftop bar on Instagram. For each bar, the hashtag with the highest number of posts was used.
Sydney’s Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel was the highest ranked Australia rooftop bar, coming in tenth on the global list, while the Coogee Pavilion was ranked as the second most Instagrammable bar in the world.
