Australia has this week (Nov 8-12) taken a historically unusual step and welcomed a Viking invasion – Viking Beer, that is.

Brewed in Iceland, Viking Beer is a low-carb premium golden pilsner brewed from a unique blend of pure Icelandic water, malt, hops and maize.

Their official launch party was held at The Golden Sheaf on Wednesday night (Nov 10), although the brand recently sponsored the Sony Foundation Wharf4Ward on October 21.

Distributed by Seven Continents, the beer was first discovered by Seven Continents’ owners James Drury and Marcus Ehrlich when Ehrlich’s brother was playing first-grade football in Iceland.

Impressed, they decided to repackage the bottle to feature the Norse god Odin, and distribute it in Australia.

Viking Beer is currently available in some of Sydney’s top bars and pubs, including Oxford Art Factory, Emmilou and The Golden Sheaf.
