Australian companies have increased the amount of exhibition space booked by 50 per cent at the world’s largest wine and spirits fair – Prowein – to be held at Messe Dusseldorf in March.

Based on research conducted by TheShout, there will be a 50 per cent increase in space booked by Australians at the exhibition with high profile companies including Treasury Wine Estates, Australian Vintage, Accolade Wines, Peter Lehmann and Grant Burge joining over 30 other wineries at the fair.

De Bortoli Wines European export manager, Francis Aguilar, has confirmed that they will be participating again.

“We certainly find it a very productive fair due mainly to what we feel is a combination of the following attributes: timing, location, organization and trade image,” Aguilar told TheShout.

The largest presence will be from Wine Australia that has organised attendance for 23 companies on its stand which will be located in the newly-created hall for New World producers.

Wine Australia Regional Manager, John McDonnell, told TheShout this will be one of the largest Australian groups to exhibit in the show’s history.

“We are looking forward to being back at Prowein 2013. Due to demand to exhibit at the Fair, the organisers have added an extra hall specifically for New World producers,” McDonnell said.

“We have secured a much larger space in this hall for our stand and so far have 23 companies signed up to join us.

“At present we are working with designers to create a new stand that works well for both Wine Australia, and these producers.

“Although located in Germany, Prowein is much more than a German wine fair. With buyers, journalists and key trade travelling from all parts of the continent to attend, Prowein is very much a European wine fair,” McDonnell said.
