A bar with no name and no concept has opened in Sydney’s Taylor Square.

The brainchild of the former general manager of The White Horse Hotel in Surry Hills, Simon Mercier, the venue has no name, no fit-out and only minimal drinks on offer, until the patrons come up with a concept.

“The idea of this bar gives anyone the opportunity to give their ideas on fit-out, music-style, drinks, preferred brands and even the naming of the bar,” said Mercier.

“We will even look at the furniture, if someone wants to bring in their favourite lounge, pictures and the like, we will consider all ideas.”

Located on the site of the old Deck Bar, their official opening last week (Dec 3) elicited a great response from the guests, said Mercier.

“People absolutely loved it,” he said. “They were not only writing their ideas for names up on the wall, but also concepts for the bar, as well. I think we’ll let it run over Christmas and finalise a winning concept in the New Year.”

The bar is currently operating from midday to midnight, with a 3am licence pending.
