Barons Black Wattle Original Ale was voted the most popular beer at the UK’s JD Wetherspoon international beer festival.
Each year, four international beers are chosen to represent their country at the festival, the biggest of its kind in the world, held across more than 700 venues throughout the UK.
More than 8500 Wetherspoon customers cast their vote for their favourite festival ale on the company’s website, with the Barons Black Wattle Original Ale coming out on top of the 50 nominated beers.
The beer was the first to be launched for Barons, which now sits alongside the Barons Lager, Pale Ale, ESB and Lemon Myrtle Witbier.
The UK win coincides with a new campaign for Barons Brewing, Save the Males, which is a tongue-in-cheek bid to save Aussie males from metrosexual tendencies.
It is being supported with merchandise and activities, including off-premise gift with purchase offers, and on-premise deals of Barons ‘Save the Males’ t-shirts given out when patrons collect a total of six stamps, each given with purchases of Barons schooners.
