Better Beer is giving customers the chance to win one of three Bitcoins in an epic treasure hunt this July, with three lucky Australians set to take home a share of the prize pool worth $134,454.

The competition comes not long after Better Beer, which was co-founded by comedy duo The Inspired Unemployed, gave away $100,000 of cash at Easter this year.

“We’ve created a huge following over the last 18 months since we launched and it’s all about having fun with our community and breaking the norm with beer advertising. Given we’re a digitally-led beer brand [with 138,000 followers across Instagram and Facebook] why not hide some digital currency inside a can of beer?”, said Better Beer CEO, Nick Cogger.

“We were originally going to do this competition back in January, however Bitcoin’s price crashed to $25,000 and we weren’t sure if it was going to continue to drop. It has now bounced back to around $44,000 so now is the perfect time to run the promotion. We’ve hidden two Bitcoins inside specially marked cases of our best-selling Better Beer Zero Carb cans, and we’ll give away a third Bitcoin through a lottery, via our on-premise customers.”

Customers can take part in the ‘Find The Bitcoin’ treasure hunt by picking up a specially marked case of Better Beer Zero Carb cans from participating stores, where one of two Bitcoins might be hidden inside. In partnership with CoinSpot, one of the lucky cases will be hidden in BWS, while the other waits to be found in Dan Murphy’s.

Those looking to ‘Win A Bitcoin’ will receive a unique chance card when they buy a Better Beer from participating on-premise venues between 1-31 July. One winner will be picked from a draw of participants who scratch their cards to reveal a unique code and upload their information online.

Ray Osthmuller, Head of Marketing at CoinSpot, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership: “By combining Australia’s love for beer and the growing interest in cryptocurrency, we aim to create a unique experience that engages our customers and promotes the use of digital currencies in everyday life.”

Cases of Better Beer Zero Carb will be available exclusively from Dan Murphy’s and BWS, with 60,000 cases expected to be sold during the month.
