By James Sykes, marketing director for Beam Global Australia

Now we’re back in Sydney, I’m thinking of our 200 customers from Australia and New Zealand who’ll also unpack their bags this week and return to work, and I’m hoping they enjoyed their time on Jim Beam Island – Unplugged just as much as we all did.

I never thought we’d be able to top the first Beam Island – but wow, I know I’ll be reliving our Fijian island adventure for years to come.

From remote control boat races with the Jim Beam Racing team to sing-a-longs with the one and only Jimmy Barnes, Shannon Noll and the Hoodoo Guru’s, this was one amazing celebration.

We know our independent retailers work tirelessly all year round, and we see Jim Beam Island – Unplugged as a way to inspire and support our partners, and ultimately help grow their businesses.

Our smaller independent partners are incredibly valuable to us, and incentives such as this allow us to get to know our key retailers and gain insights into how we can help them and their bottom line.

We see this as a reward and love to entertain our retailers and remind them why we are the market leader.

During our time in Fiji we were able to acknowledge those stand-out customers who work with us year on year to help build our brands and give consumers what they’re asking for.

While each of our guests are invaluable, we’d like to acknowledge the winners of the 2010 Retailer Awards, awarded for achieving sales uplifts and best in-store displays during the trading incentive program:

  • Pit Lane Liquor (Northern Territory)
  • Westland Hotel (South Australia)
  • Bohle Barn Willows (Queensland)
  • Condellos Liquor Hudson Road (Western Australia)
  • Premix King Kangaroo Flat (Victoria)
  • Cellarbrations Kotara (New South Wales)
  • Super Liquor Whangarei (New Zealand)

As we all (sadly) return to work I’m hopeful you feel just as inspired as we do to continue working together on even bigger and better opportunities.

I know Fred Noe in particular will be returning to Kentucky with some colourful stories and will be sure to update the US team on the passion our Australian and New Zealand partners have for our products.

This is something we’re extremely proud of and thank all our retailers for helping make us Australia’s number one spirit brand!
