Molson Coors has launched a limited release of its Blue Moon craft beer, a White IPA, which will be distributed in Australia by Coca-Cola Amatil.

The beer is now available in independent retailers and from next month will be ranged in Dan Murphys and Vintage Cellars.

Brewed using Simcoe, Cascade and Citra hops, Blue Moon has also added its own twist with the use of the Huell Melon hop from Germany. With wheat and oats for malts the new beer is listed as having 45 IBUs and comes in at 5.9 per cent ABV.

In terms of its taste and appearance the beer is described as having a “cloudy, pale colour with a creamy white head and a pronounced grapefruit, citrus and fruity hop aroma.”

The taste is an “assertive, clean bitter flavour with strong citrus and fruity hop taste, balanced by smooth malts. It has a medium bodied mouthfeel and a lingering bitter finish with bold citrus and fruity hop notes.”

As well as the off-premise ranging CCA have produced 200 kegs for a limited on-premise release and a spokesperson for CCA told TheShout they are “hopeful it will be received well”, adding that the beer “could become a permanent addition to the range”.
