Bols has announced a new flair bartending competition for the Australian bartending community.

The ‘Gods of Flair’ competition will run in three stages, with the final to be held in a three-day extravaganza at the Thredbo ski fields in July.

The grand prize will include a trip to Amsterdam, along with a ‘VIP Bartending Experience’ at the Lucas Bols Academy.

Lucas Bols brand ambassador Michael Dackiw said the company takes its interest in flair bartending very seriously.

“So much so they have even gone as far as specifically designing a bottle with flair in mind,” he said. “To have a premium liqueur and perfect flair bottle just makes sense.”

Flair bartending is the art of bouncing, spinning and manipulating bar products and bar tools while making a drink. There are thousands of flair bartenders who compete in similar competitions each year.

The first round of Gods of Flair will be held on April 14 at Sydney’s Nevermind in conjunction with local flair bartending company Twisted Liquid.

The competition is based on two categories – working flair, which focuses on producing a quality drink while entertaining the crowd; and exhibition flair, where more complicated moves and special bottles are used.
