The winner of the inaugural ‘Bols Around the World Shaking Twenties’ Cocktail Competition has been announced.

Hugos Bar Pizza manager, Luke Redington, beat out scores of other entrants to claim first place in the Australia and New Zealand heat.

Redington will now join five other finalists from around the world at the final in Amsterdam in March next year.

The competition called for bartenders across the world to create an innovative cocktail that captured the spirit and personality of the 1920s. Redington’s winning cocktail uses Jim Beam Small Batch, Bols Banana Liqueur and pistachio-flavoured fairy floss.

Judges for the competition include Mixxit’s Jason Crawley, Japan’s Hidetsugu Ueno and North America’s Dave Wondrich.

"It’s been an exciting competition,” said Crawley. “We received great feedback on the ‘Shaking Twenties’ theme. Thank-you to all the participants and our congratulations to Luke – a great  contender for the final in Amsterdam.”
