The Australian Liquor Stores Association (ALSA) is about to embark on its Inaugural study tour, with a small group of retailers and suppliers travelling to the London and Paris marketplace.

Departing this Sunday February 23, the Australian group intends to meet with overseas retailers and suppliers to see how their markets operate and how some of the learnings from the trip can be applied in the Australian context.

ALSA president Giuseppe Minissale, who will be leading the study tour, commented: “We are keen to see just how the retail trade operates in these two markets. The sense we get is that they are ahead of us when it comes to realising that in fact our energies are better spent focussing on how better to engage with and interact with our customer, rather than worrying so much about our competitor.”

ALSA asked experienced retailer Mal Higgs to create the tour program, which consists of a very busy schedule of meetings and presentations.

It is intended that the group’s findings will be presented at the ALSA Annual Conference in August in Cairns.
