The gap left by Stella Artois in the Foster’s portfolio will not remain empty for long, following the announcement that the Carlton United Brewers (CUB) will take over the distribution of some of SABMiller’s leading international brands.

Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Miller Genuine Draft, Miller Chill, Grolsch Premium Lager and Pilsner Urquell will fall under the Foster’s umbrella from January 16, 2012.

Upon completion of the SABMiller/Foster’s Group transaction, SABMiller is to acquire the remaining 50 per cent interest from Coca-Cola Amatil in Pacific Beverages, which will bring all brands and operations under the CUB business.

Foster’s new chief executive, Ari Mervis, said that Foster’s will be able to provide greater distribution opportunities for all of the brands involved.

“The increased offering in the rapidly growing premium beer segment will create new opportunities for customers,” Mervis said.

“Beer drinkers will ultimately benefit from the increased distribution that CUB can bring to these great brands.”
