Cake Wines has appointed Stuart Brookshaw (pictured) as its 'head sommelier', who will oversee new product development and sales nationally.

Brookshaw has a long and extensive history working within the food and wine industry both in Australia and internationally for 25 years, variously as a trained sommelier, brand manager and wine journalist.

He said he was attracted by the values, ethos and philosophy behind Cake Wines, which aims to change the sometimes intimidating conversation around wine and embody a distinct creative culture.

"This is the right move for me, I’ve been watching Cake since launch, it’s completely unique and different and is a shining light in the new world of wine," he said.

Brookshaw's appointment comes during Cake Wines' Support The Support promotional initiative, which encourages music fans to arrive early at gigs during the month of May and watch the support band or DJ, in return for a free glass of Cake wine.

"The idea has been receiving a huge amount of love from the Australia music world as well as the broader cultural community," said co-founder Glenn Cassidy.
